EDC Gear from EDC Depot.com

Mon Feb 23 2009
We had a chance to review some EDC gear from the EDC Depot.com online store. The items arrived in about two days, were packaged well and nothing was damaged. No extra packaging to throw away either. And a FREE spy capsule (pill fob) !!!

We received a TOPs Pocket Size Survival Saw and a Cord Lock Light made by Black Crater. I opened the box and set out threw contents for this photo, and then there was a blur of hands and I had to wait a while to get the items back for more photos.

EDC = Every Day Carry

We had a chance to review some EDC gear from the EDC Depot.com online store. The items arrived in about two days, were packaged well and nothing was damaged. No extra packaging and a FREE spy capsule (pill fob). We received a TOPs Pocket Size Survival Saw and a Cord Lock Light made by Black Crater. I opened the box and set out threw contents for this photo, and then there was a blur of hands and I had to wait a while to get the items back for more photos. Well I got most of it back, the keyring pill container was lost to one of our editors who had forgotten his pills the day before, and his two pills fit perfectly inside. I managed to get a few photographs, but we will have to wait a while to hear how it works out for him. He does not like a large keyring... so we will see. The light still worked on the Cord Lock Light after everyone had played with it for a while before I got to see it, which was it is first test. It had been dropped a few times and thrown around before I was able to take a look at it, and it is no worse for wear. First off, it is a decent cord lock. It is strong and has a large opening for the cord, so it will easily allow two strands of 550 cord (my cord of choice) The rubber operation button is solid and seems to be waterproof. The bottom of the unit is a large black rubber cap that offers access to the two CR1220 batteries. I suspect this light will be handy in more than a few roles. Obviously as a jacket cord lock it's a perfect option so you always have a light. But on a first aid kit zipper, or tied to a compass, or even on a pocket tool or knife sheath. The Cord Lock Light has three modes of operation that are easy to use; first click is low light, second click of the button switches to bright light mode and the third click of the same button turns on blinking mode. The Cord Lock Light blink mode is designed for emergency signaling, it is a slow regular blink, a little faster than a car turn signal, but much slower than a strobe found on some emergency lights. The TOPs Pocket Size Survival Saw is a four inch saw blade with a sturdy kydex sheath that folds over to a handle like a pocket knife. The TOPs Pocket Size Survival Saw is 4-1/2 inches closed and 7 inches opened. The TOPs Saw uses a rivet connecting the blade to the handle

EDC Depot.com sends a FREE Spy Capsule with every order! They come in six colors: green, red, black, purple, gold and blue. We got a green one (obviously) The Free Spy Capsule dimensions are 1-7/8 inches long and a 5/8 inch diameter. It includes a half inch split ring key ring which is well made and will do a good job of securing the free spy capsule.

He doesn't like a large key ring, but this pill fob is not very big, and he needs spare pills... so we will see

I didn't take a photo of the saw yet, so I stole this one from the EDC Depot.com website to show what it's blade looks like.
